For those who are looking for Volunteer opportunities but don't feel like you should have to pay for the privilege.
It is said that no good deed goes unpunished. Only recently has it become common practice to charge the "good deed doer" in advance of the deed or the punishment.
Somehow, this practice just made no sense to me. I'm in the same boat as a lot of people. I want to do something to help out but by the time I pay for my passage to South America and keep enough back to support myself while I am there, I won't have enough to pay some "foundation" several hundred a week for the privilege of working.
After much internet searching, I found this site:

They list numerous places in South America and Central America where one can volunteer without being charged a fee. Check it out.
Also, if you are interested in Spanish lessons in Sucre, Bolivia there is at least one language institute that will hook you up with a no-fee volunteer position pay. It is:

I know what you mean about having to pay to volunteer. I think that is just plain silly too.

Reply to this I know it's crazy... I worked on a kibbutz and was paid $1.00 a day with room & board.... but this was in 1985. I'm looking for free volunteer work in South East Asia for this winter..
