Digital Camera

how good does my camera need to be????

I want to make sure I get some good quality pictures of my round the world trip....I have seen some really amazing ones from bloggers on here. Realistically, how good should my digital camera be to get cool piccies. Please let me know about the minimum megapixels, optical zoom etc. I dont want a super professional one... but something that captures the moment forever.

Well I got a canon Ixus 50 which is very small and light and I think the picture quality is great, you can see some photos in my diary:

I found the thing to look for as well as megapixels etc is whether you can use normal batteries and how the recharging works (the only downside to the Ixus, you can't use normal batteries and there is a separate charger to carry round, you can't just plug the camera in). The battery life on the Ixus is fine however
