Hi,
I am a coordinator for Volunteer4Free Kenya, a free volunteer program based out of Nairobi, Kenya. The primary focus of our program is visiting patients and teaching English to children at Nairobi's main public hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). Also, volunteers with our program will have an opportunity to help teachers in Kibera (East Africa's largest slum) acquire improved teaching techniques through volunteer teacher tutorials.
Volunteer4Free Kenya now offers accommodation to volunteers, at a rate of $30 a week, or $20 a week per person when volunteers share a room. (Our apartment only has one available bedroom, so shared accommodation is limited to same-sex volunteers or couples.)
Further re accommodation, our apartment is located less than one km from a multi-acre, several-story shopping mall featuring a bank, restaurants, supermarket, and more. It is just a three-minute walk from a major bus stop, with buses leaving to town at regular intervals.
Volunteer4Free Kenya does not currently offer free food, though we can guide volunteers in getting acquainted with Kenyan food and culture. (One can find meals in Kenya for anywhere from $0.50-$5.00, depending on location and one's taste.)
