AGENDA (so far...)
It is open to change and not set in stone. I would like to do both the old and the new sides of Japan, as well as the shopping and the history of the country. If that makes sense.
(Sunday)18/03/2012 - Arrive at Tokyo - check into hostel do basic stuff, it depends on flight time and jet lag/etc
19 - Tokyo
20 - Tokyo
21 - Tokyo - plan day trip to Nikko to see monkeys
22 - Travel to Tsumago and see old buildings/etc, continue on to Kyoto and visit temples/etc
23 - Kyoto
24 - Kyoto - day trip to Nara (visit the deer) and then on to Koya depending on the time
(Sunday) 25 - Kyoto
26 - Osaka
27 - Osaka - Himeji - Hiroshima - probably spend the night in Hiroshima. Himeji meant to have the most beautiful castle
28 - Hiroshima - Osaka- may take quick look at Miyajima before going back to Osaka (meant to be one of Japan’s 3 famous views)
29 - Osaka - maybe go to hot spring in Kinosaki after all the walking so far.
30 - Osaka
31 - Tokyo
(Sunday) 1/04/2012 - Tokyo
2 - Tokyo - Yokohama
3 - Tokyo - Kamakura
4 - Tokyo
5 - Tokyo
6 - Tokyo
(Saturday) 7/04/2012 - basic exploring of Tokyo/go home - depends on flight time
I thought it best to start out slow after arriving. I would want to spend a few days in Tokyo to begin with, but go back to it nearer the end of the trip and explore fully. It is a very large area and I know that a person could probably spend the full 3 weeks there.
Cherry blossom festivals should be going on during this time.
I am interested in visiting a sumo match if they are on and not too expensive
I would like to spend a night in a ryokan (although I do know it is quite expensive, and I am not sure when or where to do so)
Blue Monkey
Kora - if the above has not scared you, then I would like to get to know you ^_^
