My reason to visit the USA

There are many reasons to visit the US. This is mine.

There are many reasons to visit the wonderful USA, including plenty that I probably don't even know about just yet, but I this is my own and I thought I would share.

I'm 22 years old and have spent about 6 months in total visiting the USA as a traveller, with 4 of those months being in the last year and a half of my life.

The most recent trip I took, in Sept this year (09), I decided that rather than take heaps of photos, i'd take videos. With the sole reason that I could make a short movie to highlight just why it is I love to travel and how many amazing people you can meet if you open yourself up to possibilities of o/s travel. That and also that i'd taken plenty of photos before and felt it was time for something different.

Firstly, check it out here -

Many of the people that feature in this video are either friends that I made on the trip, or on my European trip in 08 (only 2 people are friends from home, here in Melbourne.)

Now I know that this video doesn't exactly highlight the beautiful and diverse scenery that you might find on a trip across Death Valley, or in Yosemite but I feel that that is the simple side of travel. That's the side that you can tell your friends and family about when you get home and they can look up all the places you visited on the Internet. The side that is often missed (yet the most exciting) is the actual trip itself. The people that you meet, the jokes you share along the way and the memories you have of being somewhere with someone doing something different are the things that I think make a trip all the more worthwhile. Now, with this video, I can show my parents, friends and family all the fun I have along the way and can also share the memories with my o/s friends, no matter where they live.

In the US, i've visited many places but i'd have to say my favourite place is New York City. That place is incredible. I love walking around with no particular destination in mind, experiencing all the different areas and people. It's just so great to take in. I could live there, full stop.

Does anybody else have a favourite place in the USA? Anybody else have videos of photos to share? If you'd like to know any more about where i've been please feel free to ask...

I've traveled most of California and each area i've quite enjoyed. Sequoia National Park was a fantastic adventure for me along with Lake Tahoe. I did the whole loop from LA to Lake Tahoe through Sequoia to Sacramento across to San Francisco and then down the coast back to LA. An incredible journey.
I just recently got back from Oregon and Washington during the first snow storm of this winter and its a beautiful sight to see.
I love the mountains so for the USA so far, i have to say Yosemite and Sequoia as my favorite places. Possibly get back to the USA one day but for now, i'm going to check out the mountains in Canada again.
Nice Video by the way. Reply to this

That would have been incredible! I spent a few days last year camping in Yosemite and have to say that I can see why it's your favourite. The scenery is breathtaking... Unfortunately I didn't hike Half Dome, which i'd one day like to do, but even still hikes like the Mist Trail are amazing!
Canada would be incredible too. That's one place I haven't done much of because i'd like to see alot of it when i get there. I'm really keen on checking out Banff and Jasper.

I just got back from Banff about three weeks ago and its an amazing place. Definitely check it out. Lakes every where. I hope to get to see that area in the summer time or at least late Spring when its at its best.
I only visited Yosemite by traveling through it but even the drive through was amazing. This was in the summer so camping in Yosemite was fully booked out, so if i ever do it again, ill book way in advance next time. Reply to this
