We are visiting Barcelona for two nights in September and would like ideas on where to stay( location important so we can see as much as we can in a day and half).....but also cost ...our conversion of the NZD$ to Euros is not great.....so what a safe, good located place...for myself and wife.
We are on our big OE..in our mid 40's ...don't mind roughing it to a point.... as long as it safe...perferably has a shower etc. Like ideas on things to do...great places to eat (affordable)..we need options to go back and forth to airport etc
Trying to work at the best to see in a short time...being located close to where everything is...

As far as I remember there was a good bus service to and from the airport.
Find someplace to stay near Las Ramblas if you can.

Reply to this yeah buses leave for airport every 10 mins from lots of locations. as Mel said try and find somewhere close to las ramblas as this is where the hub of activity is and you can walk to the beach from it. las ramblas is the point of sale of most hostels/hotels so if it doesnt mention it then it is nowhere near it. we stayed in a place called the Kabul hostel which was pretty nice, clean and safe and was located well. im not sure if you want to stay in a hotel or a hostel though if you choose a hostel you cant go far wrong with the one i mentioned.

Reply to this Hi Peter!
You could also opt for a rental apartment, it gives you more independence than a hotel and normally is a lot cheaper. They also offer airport transfers.
might be a good option. Have a nice time in Barcelona!
Frau Reply to this I just got back from Barcelona myself.. and I can suggest you rent an apartment or a room instead of booking an expensive hotel (which you wont spend time in anyway) I have a friend who is renting out apartments in Barcelona, send her an email
I am sure she can help you!!
Best of Luck Reply to this I agree with PaSm if you are in a group renting an apartment can work out about 30%!c(MISSING)hepaer than hotel rooms. Whe ni first arrived in Barca I used this site for

Reply to this Hi Peter,
'm Silvia and I live in Barcelona with my family. I have a nice flat two floors under me, in the Gracia district. The apartment has 3 bedroom, a complete kitchen, a bathroom and a livingroom. It's price is 120 euro per night. It's next to Passeig de Gracia boulevard, the best place of Barcelona to shooping, with metro, bus and train station at 5 minute walking. Also we can offer you my free assistant for your holidays. If you are interested don't hesitate contact me.
Happy holidays!
