We are on our big OE..in our mid 40's ...don't mind roughing it to a point.... as long as it safe...perferably has a shower etc. Like ideas on things to do...great places to eat (affordable)..we need options to go back and forth to airport etc

Trying to work at the best to see in a short time...being located close to where everything is... Reply to this

Hello Peter 😊

..we need options to go back and forth to airport etc

As far as I remember there was a good bus service to and from the airport.

Find someplace to stay near Las Ramblas if you can.

yeah buses leave for airport every 10 mins from lots of locations. as Mel said try and find somewhere close to las ramblas as this is where the hub of activity is and you can walk to the beach from it. las ramblas is the point of sale of most hostels/hotels so if it doesnt mention it then it is nowhere near it. we stayed in a place called the Kabul hostel which was pretty nice, clean and safe and was located well. im not sure if you want to stay in a hotel or a hostel though if you choose a hostel you cant go far wrong with the one i mentioned.

Hi Peter!

You could also opt for a rental apartment, it gives you more independence than a hotel and normally is a lot cheaper. They also offer airport transfers. might be a good option. Have a nice time in Barcelona!

I just got back from Barcelona myself.. and I can suggest you rent an apartment or a room instead of booking an expensive hotel (which you wont spend time in anyway) I have a friend who is renting out apartments in Barcelona, send her an email

I am sure she can help you!!

Best of Luck

Hi Peter,
'm Silvia and I live in Barcelona with my family. I have a nice flat two floors under me, in the Gracia district. The apartment has 3 bedroom, a complete kitchen, a bathroom and a livingroom. It's price is 120 euro per night. It's next to Passeig de Gracia boulevard, the best place of Barcelona to shooping, with metro, bus and train station at 5 minute walking. Also we can offer you my free assistant for your holidays. If you are interested don't hesitate contact me.
Happy holidays! Reply to this
