I am looking for a travel partner to travel SE Asia with me. I am planning on going for 6 months, but if you can only do a few months that would work as well. I am planning on leaving around August 2009 I am a little flexible on the departure date. I would like to travel with a budget in mind, not one that is so strict but just budget conscience. I am interested in experiencing the culture and the local scene. I do want to do sight seeing, but I am not interested in a touristy trip. I am a female, but will travel with a male or female.

I will be in SE Asia May 28th-Aug 7th

I will be one month visiting friends in China and then 5 weeks spread out to Vietnam, Malaysia.

Where are you planning on traveling?

Most likely the last week of June/ until the first week of August - then I'm gonna head back to HK.
How long do you want to spend in each of the countries? 6 months in just those too?

I was thinking about a budget of max 30USD/day which usually is just a safety measure and I end up spending less.

I am planning to go traveling in SE asia in Aug for at least 3 months. The tentative plan is to do some volunteering in Thailand in Sep/Oct. I am based in Hong Kong, a local HK chinese. Would like to meet up some travel buddies who share the same ideas and perhaps have some fun together!

my rough shedule is:
thailand (bangkok, chiang mai, chiang rai) - july 3rd - 15th
laos (luang prabang, vang vieng, vientiane) - 15th - 25th
vietnam (from hanoi down to hcmc) - 25th - aug 15th
cambodia (phnom penh, angkor) - 15th to 25th
thailand (phuket, ko samui) - 25th to sept 10th
malaysia (cameron highlands, kuala lumpur) - 10th to 20th
singapore - 20th-25th

if that plan somehow fits to your ideas i would love to meet up somewhere...

I am flying into Shanghai on August 4th and then spending the next three weeks in China. After that I will head to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand for approximately the next four months.

I will be leaving Jiangxi, China next week (June 11th) to go to...

Then I plan to cross the border into Laosto

Muang Sing (trekking, backpacker scene)
Luang Nam Tha (trekking, eco-tourism)
Udomxai (temple, waterfalls)
Muang Ngoi (small town, riverside setting, backpacker scene)
Luang Prabang (temples, riverside town, scenic)
Vang Vieng (scenic, backpacker scene)
Vientiane (capital city, temples, riverside city)
Tha Khaek (riverside town, caves, scenic)
Savannakhet (riverside town, national parks, colonial architecture)
Pakse (riverside town, daytrips)
Champasak (ruins)
Four Thousand Islands - Don Khong, Don Dhet & Don Khon (scenic, waterfalls, backpacker scene)

Cross border into Cambodia

Stung Treng (Riverside town, gateway to Laos)

Going to be in Asia again from Nov 5-Jan 27

Flying round trip to Singapore and then flying to Hanoi for research for 2 months and then heading via land through Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and back to catch my flight outta Singapore.

Anyone on a similar track?

I'll be in Bangkok from 11th of October....planning the Islands then up north to Chinag Mai and then into Laos from there to Malaysia and poss singapore ....loose plans subject to location....on to NZ, Oz and possibly Peru after that. 6 months travel thereabouts.....pretty flexible but have seen Cambodia and Vietnam.....might be throwing in a quick trip to a friend to S korea as well..... if plans collide.....I'm 31 and female so be WARNED!!
