I have a Canon PowerShot G9, which is absolutely fantastic. The quality of photos and range of settings and options is just as good as an SLR, but it is half the size. I read a dozen reviews before buying it and didn't find a single negative aspect.

Not many of the photos on my blog are taken with it though, so follow the links on TravelBlog's camera guide for examples of pictures taken with it.

Ryan,

Its pretty dependent on what you're looking for in a camera. As Jon suggested above the Canon G series is an awesome series of point-and-shoot cameras. They function almost as well as DSLRs do but are considerably more portable. If you don't want something that expensive a lot of users here have had great luck with other canon point-and-shoot cameras and Panasonics as well. Sadly Nikons, Samsungs and other brands can be hit and miss. Some are better than others. There are bunches of sights that do camera reviews. I would suggest looking them up on Google and doing some research for yourself! Bets of Luck!
