I love Indonesia, and am off for a 2 month journey through West and North Sumatra in August and September. I'm planning on spending alot of time trekking in the jungle and climbing a few volcanoes, as well as tripping out on hot spicey local food. It's always fun having companions, so if you're interested in joining me on some of my travels, please contact me:
I'm 44/S/F/Australian with a smattering of Bahasa Indonesian.

for extended treks definitely, otherwise I mightn't find my way out and get eaten by a tiger!!
for some of the volcano climbs, the tracks are easily negotiated so I won't worry then. Reply to this

Do you know how wild the treks are? I want to do at lesat some of them, but because I have to travel a few places before that, I won't be carrying heavy boots. If it's totally bush beating, my gear might not do. HOwever, fi there are places to rent things, maybe it's okay. haha. Reply to this

yeah, I'm taking boots. I've heard the jungle treks are pretty rugged, though some people seem to get by in sandals if just doing a day trip. i haven't heard about anywhere you can hire footware though. Reply to this

haha, it's probably not a good idea to rent anyway, it might be uncomfortable, foodware is not like jackets. Reply to this
