Punta del Diablo is a small fishing/surfing village on the Atlantic coast of Uruguay just 40km from the Brazilian border.
We spent much of our days chillin and surfin! Heavennnnnn
Surfing was extremely fun, the kids were so pumped to do it no second thoughts just GO ......me not so much a little nervous of the big waves and well (my thoughts briefly wandered to Jaws/SoulSurfer 😊 ridiculous I know that's just my fear talkin.
Sean was our videographer and caught us all in action.....while he rented a board later.
Once I started I never looked back! The kids were naturals and good old mom did pretty good too.
Driving into Punta del Diablo we didn't realize that there was a National Holiday (Carnival)......duuuuu as we are in holiday mode always😊
We certainly learned our lesson.....
There wasn't a place to be found.....it was getting a little stressful as we didn't travel with a tent.
This is were my " let's just go and it will all work out attitude was biting me in the behind" Sean is a patient man.
Those who know me best know how this story ends.......you guested
it we found a cabana (1/2 star at best) we walked in and put our packs on the kitchen table. Max and Liv's eyes were the size of saucers. As it was late I went straight to the beds and did my bedbug check and took my trusty tea tree oil/water spray ( thank you KARI B) and sprayed the mattresses.
All though it was knarly my expert eyes saw no traces of bedbugs or roaches.
We may not have brought sleeping bags but we did bring silk liners ( apparently bedbugs don't like silk) needless to say we didn't sleep much and bolted in the AM .....ASAP!

Still needing a place to stay for 3 more nights we search and found Posada Nativa. Eduardo the owner/operator was wonderful.
He built the posada and all the beautiful details by himself (such vision)
It was always a fight for the hammock........what a way to enjoyed a quite moment.
