So, a quick pitstop in Colonia was all that was needed, so a 3 hour bus journey to Montevideo (eventually after the time mix up). We arrived at the hostel about 9.30 pm and grabbed some food and cooked a meal, washed down with some fine imported vodka. I was in a dorm of 8 & everyone was already asleep, so it was pitch black, which made getting ready to go out a nightmare, basically had to dress in reception, a treat for all concerned!

We headed out just after midnight and found a really good bar, roughly translated as The Prancing Pony. They had a good live band, but randomly played Lord of the Rings on the screens around the place.

After a local ropey beer i decided to move onto cocktails, then Caipirinhas, a ridiculously potent drink. We were ordering them by the trayload, which in turn led to drinking games. It was a really good night, but it turns out the girls can't really hold their booze too well! One ended up home early after falling off a bar stool. Anyway, finally made it back to the hostel around breakfast time and collapsed onto my mattress for a couple of hours power nap.

I woke up, feeling less than human and went for a quick wander to pick up some juice & breakfast. Went to see the others and they were in a real state, it was like a medical field hospital, a lot of moaning & wailing. I made out i felt great, but in reality was slowly dying inside... it really is a potent cocktail.

A very lazy day was had by all, including a lot of sitting, watching DVD's and trying to play guitar. We did make it out to the port for a look, then bought some good grub to cook! A nice sausage, mash, cauliflower, carrots, peas & onion gravy. Perfect hangover fodder.

Up early the next day to see the whole city. Really is a nice place, really good architecture as in Buenos, but some older, more colonial looking buildings. We went to the top of the highest tower for some good views of the city, and stopped off at a really nice Italian for some lunch!

I also saw, in the space of a hour, a horse wearing a hat, a dog wearing a jumper

and men dressed as biscuits. All were funny, but the horse was hillarious, it even had holes cut into the hat for his ears.
Later than evening, the girls left for Iguazu falls. We've been travelling together for a while so a sad moment, for about 3 minutes until i met a load more people and went out with them, the beauty of travelling. We went into the town to a few bars, and some early hours tango dancing. No idea if i was any good, i'd like to think so!

I had to check out the next morning after no sleep, but my bus to Brazil wasn't till 9.30pm, so i had to fill my day! A long 2 hour walk to the Estadio Cenetario. For a huge stadium its really hard to find, but managed it after getting lost a few times. It was totally locked, no way in, gutted. I walked around it about 5 times trying to find some way in, but no dice. Kicked the main metal doors in frustration, which quickly alerted a good few Uruguayan officers inside. Ooooops. However, after explaining myself, they let me in to have a free run of the place.

After a quick look around town afterwards i got onto my bus for the 20 hour journey to Florianopolis, Brazil!
