After a poor nights sleep in the cold and wet night on Amantani i was dissappointed to have silvia knock on our door for the wake up call. She did go some way to making it up to me by eplaining that breakfast was ready on the table. So with this information we rushed to get ready, when we got downstairs we had pancakes ready. I was really pleased and coincidently didnt care what hour it was or that i haven eaten meat in at least 2 days or so.
After breakfast we headed down to the docks, we said our goodbyes and thankyous to Silvia. I gave her one of my jumpers as a thankyou. This is because the zip had broken though so i wanted to pick up a new one.
After leaving Silvia we got on the boat, this was the start of the boatride from hell. Firstly it was not the best of morning on the lake. It was windy, cloudy and cold. The wind generated quite sizeable waves and therefore meant the boat was rocking like a like a rocking horse. 20 mintues into the journey and the engine cut out. There was a hole in the side of the boat and i think this was flooding the engine. So we were stuck static for a good half an hour. A sitting duck for the waves to give us quite a pounding. It was with great relief that we managed to get going again just as i was trying to tease the girls that we may have to swim.
After an hour had passed we approached the island of Tequille with the waves still rough at this point is make docking tough. We were just waiting for the boat ahead to dock when the captains assistant in trying to secure the boat lost his balance and fell into the water. As he was falling we were told he got crushed between the wall and the boat. After a brave tourist managed to rescue him out the water, it became apparent that the injuries suffered and the hyperthermia sent him into shock with this being a basic island there was not any medical assistance and after 20 minutes of trying to resusitate him he sadly passed away.
The mood in the group was so low that everyone didnt really want to continue with the day. So we all decided the best thing would be to get the boat to take us staight back to Puno. The boat journey was a long 3 hours and with everyone being in a downbeat mood this seemed to drag out. When we finally got off the boat our main priority was to go to the bus station and get a ticket to Copacabana on the other side of Lake Titicaca, but this is in bolivia. So tommorow we are onto our third country in South America.
Later that evening we went to the post office as we have some items for home. One of them being something Fiona picked up in the markets in Puno.
Second Quiz question..... What is Fiona sending home???
a. 20 Chullos to sell to friends.
b. A crazy flowery pattern pervian dress.
c. An Alpaca rug
d. Some shoes she has picked up
e. A sheep teddy she liked so much she had to have it.
When we got back to the point hostel we managed to get clean again after a showerless day at the island. We caught up with home and had a little afternoon siesta. When it came time to eat we decided we would go for a nice meal at a restaurant as it seemed like it had been a while.
Whilst the girls were in the room doing girly stuff like nails and hair i went upstairs to the TV room to see if there was anyone upstairs for a chat. Thankfully there were some guys that i managed to have a proper guy conversation with. I will leave it to your own imagination what one of those is.
Anyway after hours and hours had passed the girls came upstairs to look for me. Before we left i invited the guys if they wanted to come and eat with us. They agreed so the awesome foursome became the superb seven.
The three new additions to our group were Errol from Austrailia (24), Nyell from Leeds (28) and Rob from London (29). The meal was great. We managed to get a three course meal for 8 pounds. Bargain! It was really nice getting to know the guys and finally having some male company because the femininity around me was turning me a little feminine. Half way through the meal we were interrupted by a precession of musicians and dancers in the street who were practicing for the festival tomorrow.
After the meal had finished we got a taxi back up the hill. After just completeing packing our bags it was bed time with the alarm set for 6am the following morning. We will be gettin a bus to Bolivia.

A hard day that ended on a nice note
Enough's been said off-blog about the sad and hard parts of this day, so let's just say we're delighted it sounds like it had a really nice ending, and get on to dealing with Fiona's mail. a. Twenty chullos to sell to friends is a possility for a Business Studies graduate travelling with the Queen of Bartering, although this isn't what I'm putting my money on on this occasion. b. If Fiona bought a dress, Ant, your life wouldn't be worth living if you described it as 'crazy'. (Added to which, if you DID describe it as 'crazy', she'd want to take it back). c. Hmmmmm, an alpaca rug ... hmmmm. :D b. Sandals? Don't be silly, there's no WAY she'd send them home ... she'd just put them on! and e. Fiona doesn't buy cuddly toys. However, Jonathan's opinion is she's sending home ALL of these things. If this is the case, then thank goodness they're going to Frankie's! Love you both. Hope the festival is good fun. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
