Not a great deal to report today - but the last for 3 days as we head off to Sun Island on the lake. Not even sure we have electricity there so will not be taking the laptop.

Bus trip today from Cusco to Puno on the lakeshore. Followed a heavy night at a local restaurant in Cusco where we were entertained by a small band and dancers. Each was fantastic, but with free pisco sours and too much beer and wine to follow, we were a little tired on the bus today.

That said, the bus trip was still enjoyable and we managed to stop at a magnificent old church in a small village, fantastic Inca ruins in Raqchi (quite different from earlier sites), a nice lunch at a fair restaurant, and a pass through the highest point the road takes in the Andes crossing - 4338 metres. Puno is about 3700 metres, but we are all still ok pleasingly. Before the highest point the scenery was quite rugged but after, we entered the Álto Plano which is pretty baron - except for the plethora on Australian introduced gum trees.

Some limited colourful shots attached as vendors attack all of the stops, but we managed to sneak some shots that didnt require payment.

Into Bolivia tomorrow as part of the trip to the Island.

Will close now and catch up hopefully in LaPaz on the weekend.

Bye

Ian

Hi
g'day All. What outstanding photos. They are sooooooo colourful and very interesting. Sorry it has taken a bit of time to catch up, we have been living it up in good old Melb. Went to a MAV dinner on Thurs. night and Bob was awarded a 15 years service medal with a certificate under seal for "outstanding service". Its just as well someone appreciates what work he is doing for the community. we are both pretty chuffed I might say. Will tell all when you come home. Have a ball. Love, Mer xx

Order by date - at last!!!
Thank God you found the order by date button! I was dreading having to work my way to the bottom of 35 entries. Although they did keep us in suspense I have to say. But the last date first is a far better option. Also love the extra photos, they are quite spectacular and reflect the varied life and culture of the place. Tell me about the food - is it largely Spanish or predominantly of a local flavour? John
