We woke up today around 1400 and that is probably the latest I have slept in ten years. I got up and talked to Mayra a bit to try and smooth some things over that I may or may not have drunkenly said to her the other night via Facebook. She was pissed but I called her and she got over it pretty quickly. Then I had some of the orange juice we bought which was delicious. As I was lying in my bed still slowly recovering from the craziness that was the previous night two new companeros joined the room. A Japanese guy who spoke no Spanish and no English so that was kind of wash, and a girl named Raquel from Madrid. She had been living and working in Colombia for the last three years. She asked if I wanted to go get some food and I did so I took a shower and we went out to get something to eat. She had just been on a bus for 23 hours from Lima and was planning on hiking the Inca trail tomorrow, but I told her she might want to wait and see how she feels what with
the altitude and all. She thought I was crazy and I said ok we’ll see. So we went and had some pizza and walked around a little as she looked for a place to book the tour for herself. She found a few places but they all required a few days’ notice so she couldn’t get it booked much to her chagrin. It was nice hanging out with her because again, we only spoke in Spanish and I could understand her very well since she is from Spain where I learned the majority of my Spanish. We ran into Brett on the street and he was going to book a rafting trip tomorrow so we went with him and chilled. I bought a sweet switchblade knife for 20 soles because I needed something that was a little more practical than the huge knife of Uncle Rick’s that I brought. We wanted to take a little walk and do some exploring but a light rain was falling and it was getting chilly. Also Raquel began to feel sick from the altitude and lack of sleep. Thats her with her head in her hands in the picture of me by the fountain.
hahah she didnt want me to put it up here but hey, its my blog! We had to kind of carry her back to the hostel, not the whole way of course, but she needed an arm to lean on that’s for sure. She was apologizing and I just kept reassuring her that it was fine and there was nothing to apologize for. But I did tell her I told you so. Hahah. So we came back here for her to rest and now we are all about do some napping, the lights are off in the room and I am about to close up shop for the moment until I can post this blog entry. I need to do it ASAP so I can get some of these pics off my camera!
