Been a really long but exciting week!! Left La Paz after the jungle to head to the lake again for a night as some of the guys from Bolivian Express were heading there anyway for the weekend. Had another fresh trucha by the water before taking a boat out on the lake for the sunset which was pretty spectacular!!

Had a few beers in the evening in Copacabana and saw some Christian rap event going on in the town centre which was rather interesting!! Next day I headed off to Cusco while the others headed to Isla del Sol. Interesting journey which involved 2 minibuses, a cycle taxi, a regular taxi and finally a bus to Cusco!!

Arrived and met up with Doug and Paul and even Mark and we had a day around the city including a walk up to the view point above Cusco where there are some Inca ruins. Sorted out a 4 day trek which would involved 3000 metre biking decent on the first day, 2 days trekking and final day in Machu Picchu. We had a crazy Monday just outside Cusco before beginning the trip on the Tuesday, Paul actually departed Monday night. The trip was awesome, some spectacular views, excellent trekking, fun biking and Machu Picchu was amazing! Woke up at 4 to climb the 2500 plus steps up to the site before spending the whole day admiring the amazing place. After watching the sun rise, and having a tour around various areas of the site, Doug, Denise and myself walked up to the Sun Gate which offered some amazing views. Such an awe to the area and Machu Picchu itself tops it off. Headed back to Aguas Calientes to the hot springs which was a perfect way to end the day! After a couple of beers we headed back to Cusco and spent the next day relaxing before catching the bus to Arequipa which is where I am now!!

Decent walk around the town toady but probably gonna head on up the coast tomorrow with Doug, unless we do decide to go to Colca Canyon tomorrow...we shall see!!

This blog has all been a bit rushed, and I will try and elaborate a lot more when I get a bit of time!!

Bye for now...

Having graduated from university last year and spending a quality year back home in the glorious Lake District, I decided to embark on a cheeky adventure to South America for several months before returning to California, where I previously spent a year abroad studying. Right now I am working as a journalist in La Paz,Bolivia for the English publication Bolivian Express, a monthly magazine on Bolivia, its people and its places. This blog will provide an insight into what I get up to while I'm out here for anyone who would like to know!! I can't guarantee any sort of consistency but I will try ... full info
