waaaay too early! sorry it has taken soo long, but here it is
We left wednesday morning at 6:30 am (jan 15th) to get to the bus station. we got on the bus and were headed to Ollyama or something like that to get on a train to aguas calientes, which is the base for going to machu picchu. The bus ride was incredible, the views of the snow capped andes in the distance and all the lush green mountains. We got to the train station and it was really really crazy there, but we got on in time! The train ride was also really beautiful... pictures just dont do it justice. It looked like we were back in the jungle as we followed a river deep within a valley. When we got to Aguas Calientes we walked around and got settled. We also went to the hot springs, that we had to walk to, but again it was beautiful, and very relaxing! We had to get to bed early because we were getting up at 3:15am to be in line at 3:30am... to make sure we were one of the 400 people that get to climb Waynapicchu, the highest peak of
machu picchu. We got to the bus station and there were about 40 people ahead of us, and within 30minutes the line was in the hundreds... crazy!!! At 5:30am we finally boarded the second bus, at this point we were very excited. The bus ride took about 25 minutes and was scary as hell... so close to the cliffs beside us! But dont worry mom we are fine! 😊 When we got to the enterance, there were hundreds of people and we started to worry that we would not be able to go up, and we were very confused to as where these people came from. But luckily when we got up there we were still one of the 400 people. So then we walked in and got to where we needed to be to start our 7am hike up waynapicchu. We were really overwhelmed with how big and beautiful machu picchu was. At about 7:30 we began our hike up. It was very steep, very wet, and very tiring, but so very worth it! It took us about an hour, and we were the 5 and 6th people up there, so it was awesome. It had been raining since

In the line up to be one of the first 400 people so that we can climb Waynapicchu, the highest peak of machu picchu about 3 am… so it was very cloady, but still really cool. We spent about an hour at the top, before starting our journey back down. Passing all the tired people was awesome, because we had already done it! Once we got down we explored a Little and then had lunch and waited for our tour to start. We had a two hour tour from about 1 until 3 and walked all over the ruins. It was sweet. After the tour we walked up to a Little house because it was clear and we wanted the typical machu picchu picture… which we got… and they are awesome. We also weirdly got sun burnt, we still are not really sure how that happened with all the rain! So there you have it… we were exhausted and so pleased with our selves!!! J our train did not come until 10:30pm that night so we waited around, eager for bed! We arrived at our hostal in Cusco at 2:30 am and finally after 23hours we got to go to bed!
enjoy the pics and let us know what you think!
love,
Quinn and Randi xo
