well, ted & i have had a fun couple of days. we went and saw some inca ruins around cusco yesterday. they were a sight to see! we rode some combis and buses around the andes. they were packed! crazy south america. cheap, though. the ruins at ollyntambo (sp) were really awesome. there were a bunch of terraces and rooms. there was furniture carved out of rocks. we had a hard time climbing up the terraces as we were at 12,000 ft. everyone tried to sell us stuff. we are growing tired of being asked for money.
got a nice hostel last night. bargained them down to half price. we actually got a hot shower for once. we took the train to aguas calientes this morning. got up at 5. it was a beautiful ride. the backpacker train was sold out so we rode the vistadome. it is a luxury train ride. we got served cheese and tea and cheese. they tried to sell us the same tourist goods for 20 times the price. the views were spectacular, though. it is just like you would think. there are women carrying kids in bright blankets around their backs. potatos and other crops everywhere. houses made of mud brick. we are having a good time. have a hostel here tonight for 12 bucks and set out for machu picchu at 5:30 am. canĀ“t wait. i would send some personal emails but the internet here is like dial-up. anyway, love you mom!
