Amazon Waterfalls Association 501 c 3 has a project developing a sustainable tourist income in Peru's northern Dept. of Amazonas to give that zone an incentive to protect their ecology. They discovered a waterfall in 2007 that is 17 times as high as Niagara Falls or about 3 times as high as the Eiffel Tower.

The trek is 15 miles long and passes 7 gigantic waterfalls, 4 higher than any of the continental USA. This follows a narrow cliff ledge covered in a pristine Amazon Forest (most others are 2nd growth), and we have 5 of the world's most exotic and endangered species. Part of our project is propagating 10,000 feeding trees of fruit or flowers for the hummingbirds, and planting some along the trail, and the surrounding land around our preserve. Some things lacking are swinging bridges, zip lines, thatch roof rest areas in scenic locations that are handy for brief showers, widening the existing paths, paving stones in some areas, using horses and oxen for heavy hauling, distant markers, flush toilets that don't smell at intervals for the ladies, promoting in Peru and overseas, teaching English in their public schools, developing artesian skills, horticultural techniques, potable water, wildlife

This is the top drop of this waterfall. Unlike most high waterfalls, this flows all year.
counts and data base of birds, butterflies and endangered species, and a lodge half way along the trek.

The living cost is about $10 per day for food and lodging. This is more healthful, fresher, and more nutritious than you are used to, and the lodge is comfortable with hot showers, etc. the day temperatures at this altitude and next to the Equator are perfect. There are no poisonous snakes or creatures, few mosquitoes, and spectacular scenery.Spanish is not necessary and you will pick up some immersed with the local natives. They are the friend, honest, hard workers, and safer than back home. You will hire native workers at $3 per day to work with and teach you these skills. You will learn a lot about sustainable living, adobe construction, agriculture, and social skills. Instead of just traveling, you will create a legacy in this project that you will be proud of the rest of your life.

Built in 2011 upon a gigantic rock beside the trail with vertical cliffs soaring 1000 feet above and below. This has to be the most spectacular panorama you have ever seen.
