I first came to Ecuador in the late 1980's to teach English in Quito. I fell in love with this country, the natural beauty, the warmth and generosity of the people. I went on to work in international education on nearly every continent, but Ecuador kept calling me back. This Chicago girl has a "latina soul"! Another new garden detail. Look closely and you'll see the angel peeing down on the devil below.

The hose hangout "pitchforks" all around the garden depict different birds and fish.

Garden Nursery

The gardeners are constantly propagating plants for the Mandala gardens and to donate to nearby communities.

Jumbo Shrimp (oxymoron?)

Everybody pitches in when there's shrimp and squid to be cleaned.

Dinner With Lee & Doug

It was nice to be able to share a meal with my visiting friends from time to time. Lee & Doug stayed at Mandala for almost 2 wks and enjoyed exploring the area in my truck.

It was so great to spend time with old friends (and Doug is an oldie but goodie!)

As seen from the restaurant terrace. Even if I don't get out to the beach for days, I still have great views from my workspace!

Jill, Sounds like your German is better than mine, which now that I think about it, isn't a surprise since I've not been in any language classes since moving to Berlin 8 months ago. Bad Kathy, bad Kathy. The tree house is FAB! Keep on having adventures and sharing them with us.
