We arrived in Loja on Thursday (30th June) and ended up in a hotel near some really weird faux castle. So strange! Anyway, the hotelier was quite taken aback that we wanted a room with a double bed which is the first time (surprisingly) we´ve encountered any funniness about our unmarried state! After a slight discussion we got our room but she must have been a bit strange as she got my name (which she copied from my passport) completely wrong and put the bill and everything under the name British Jeakins.

We only stayed one night in Loja, which whilst its kind of pretty wasn´t what we had been lead to expect. Instead we headed out to Vilcabamba (Tim and Bek save the day again with an excellent hostel recommendation) which is about an hour away from Loja. We arrived last night and we have our own room whch is big in a kind of lodge.

Vilcabamba has some amazing scenery! Its right in the middle of all these andean peaks and our hostel´s terrace gives a superb view! Spent last night playing pool with some of the guys we met there and today we are just milling around. As usual the weather isn´t so great but its adding to the atmosphere! Sneaking out to an outside toilet in the pitch black windy night was pretty exhilarating last night! We haven´t taken any pics yet but fear not because I think we will be here for a few days yet!
