After a huge ordeal at the Miami airport and a lesser one at Caracas we finally arrived in Quito! Basically we were not allowed to fly because we did not have an onward ticket out of Ecuador and we did not have a paper ticket. I will spare you the details, but we got a flight out of Miami yesterday morning. I would be very hesitant to fly a foreign budget airline (we flew Santa Barbara airlines) again. In Caracas, we followed around a mob of people trying to find our departure gate location, while surrounded by Venezuala National Guards. Anyway, we are just starting to get used to being at 9000 feet just in time to go back down to sea level tomorrow in the Galapagos Islands!
