Libros, libros y mas libros!The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. This is the time where we gather with our family and friends, enjoy each others' company, bake and bake and bake and bake -- and eat and eat and eat and eat. So -- first off, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I hope you all have a wonderful, celebratory day.
In this time of giving thanks, it is equally a humbling time. It is a time to recognize those that are less fortunate than ourselves. This is the time, when the best of humanity shines forward to provide help to those in less fortunate circumstances than ourselves. I am SO PROUD of the school students at Cascades Academy of Central Oregon (student body of just over 100 students, K-12) who brought in non-perishable items to be donated. The high school students delivered over 500 cans of collected food to the local Bend Community Center, while the "Empty Bowls" fundraiser supported the Hunger Prevention Coalition. Thank you to each and every student, to all the parents, relatives, faculty and friends for reaching out.

BOOKS -- OF COURSE THE MOST WELCOME GIFTS ARE HARDCOVER CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS IN SPANISH OR BI-LINGUAL; SPANISH/ ENGLISH. Our greatest need at the moment is for novels in Spanish for the 7,8,9 year old age group and Adult books in Spanish, both fiction and non-fiction.
LAPTOPS (preferably Windows (not Apple) and with XP Operating Systems and WiFi) Current customs rules say that each person can bring in one used and one new laptop. We don't need new, used and in good working order is fine.

At this point, we have 3 used digital cameras and about 35 books. We are searching everywhere for Spanish chapter books, such as "Magic Tree House", Beverly Cleary series, Animal Art, Harry Potter, etc. We have purchased some new books, through Amazon, and are in the process of trying to contact some booksellers that may have some of these.
