We are both very excited to arrive in South America at last. In fact such a good feeling to arrive I wonder if we should have just come straight here (although I reckon the relaxing pre-travelling holiday was well needed!)

Quito (elevation 2850m) is an old colonial town set within an Andean valley with volcanic peaks around. We stayed in the Old Town in a centuries old colonial building with a gorgeous spiral staircase in our room and a pretty little courtyard outside.

As we arrived on Sunday full o f excitement we decided to head straight out and find a bus to the Midad Del Mundo (Middle of the world) . On Sundays there are live bands performing on the equator line and dancing and loads of Quiteños were around to watch the show. The actual monument itself pretty touristy and what was much more fun was the Museo Solar Inti Ñan just down the road on the actual equator line. Inside there were shrunken heads and a traditional Andean house

Found the equator pretty mysterious. Of course we first tested out the flow of water down the plug hole, and yes it was anti -clockwise on the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere.

Weirder still was when this lady got Magnus one meter of f the equator and got him to link his fingers together as hard as he could and then she tried with all her might to pull them apart - She couldn’t. Next she moved Magnus onto the equator line and tried the same again but this time he had no strength when standing on the equator and his hands just popped apart. We tried this again with myself testing but with the same result. Was very weird....
