Climbing
That's not a sunburn! Just me sweating my butt off in the Ecuadorian Sun!! lol. Well I know I haven’t written in a while to keep everybody updated on what I’ve been doing but I have been chugging along just doing the normal thing here on the island. I’ve been running, biking, hiking with a heavy pack in the mornings to train for climbing Cotopaxi and just to stay in shape! Which is a hard thing to do, It is so hot and sunny here during the day that you just feel like doing nothing! It makes having to teach classes in a tie a pretty big drag. I am constantly sweating which I don’t like too much! For me if I’m sitting and sweating then it’s time to chill at the beach not teach classes… lol. But yeah nothing to exciting has happened within the last couple of months that I’ve been here. Thanksgiving passed and so did Christmas. I can’t say I had to much holiday spirit this year… I’m thinking mostly because I’m use to having cold weather. It feels strange because I feel like I’m in a constant summer here! It doesn’t feel like people back home are skiing, and going to school! I still feel like its summer vacation. It is

Yep we halled our bikes to the top. a good thing that cold water is nearby because I use it often and is pretty refreshing after spending a whole day at the school. Some things we’ve been doing lately in the water is rock running…. It’s a new sport we’ve invented here! We grab big boulders under the water which keeps us on the bottom and we run as far as we can until we need air! It is sooo hilarious to watch!! It is just pretty random to see! We’ll grab rocks and run underneath tourists who are snorkeling and that type of thing! Another thing we like to do is go to Tortuga and body surf the waves! Maybe we are stupid but we are the only ones out in the waves without a board. We just tread water next to the surfers and when a good wave comes in we ride it! It is pretty fun I’ll have to admit! If you don’t ride the wave right though it sends you off cart wheeling like you’re in a washing machine! When that happens I normally just grab my goggles and curl up into a ball! Sometimes getting thrown around in the waves is just as
much fun as riding them 😊. So that’s all I’ve been doing lately. Teaching and playing in the water when I get a chance!
Anyway Christmas went well! Didn’t feel like Christmas, but at least I didn’t have to teach so that was nice! When I woke up that morning I just looked out the back window of the house and saw that Puntudo (a mountain) was out of the clouds and just randomly yelled “PUNTUDO” Pablo was in the back yard and said “vamos” taken back a little by this I was just like okay lets do it! So I ran all around the house collecting all my stuff for climbing, I decided to pack a 20L jug of water and hall that up with me. It was HEAVY! But I figured I would drink a lot! Pablo and I decided instead of taking the taxi half way up the mountain we would ride our bikes there! Within the first twenty minutes of riding I really thought I was going to die! I just kept thinking, why did I bring a 20L jug of water with me? Man, I’m stupid!! Lol. Anyway we actually made it this time
and unlike the last time there was no mud and the trail was super dry. We brought our bikes up the trail and left them at the bottom of the steep incline before the summit! The views where awesome! We could see the entire island. We then descended the mountain with our bikes, my bike not being much of a mountain bike was a little sketchy to ride in parts but other parts where the trail was smooth like butter it was pretty amazing! I think it took us about 2.5 hours to go up and less then an hour to go down it with a bike! Then after Puntudo we all went and hung out at the beach for Christmas! My first time ever doing something like that, but it was all pretty good!
