I'm beginning to wonder if I'm going to go to bed. Ever. I feel like I haven't slept in the whole two weeks I've been here! I'm going to bed at like 5 A.M. and waking up at 9. I can't seem to "turn down." Thank you Lil Jon for personally writing my theme song, my Chilean anthem. There's always something beautiful to see, something cool to do, or someone fun to hang out with. People are more nocturnal here. Prime example: Last week, all of us "young people" went to bed and my host parents were still downstairs talking and watching TV at 2 A.M! It was impressive. I'm a night person too so I'm really loving this.
Another reason I can't "turn down" is because I've been hanging out with my host brother ALL THE TIME. Shocker. We are like BFF now. It's amazing how two years can change things. We used to argue like animals over stupid stuff! Haha I remember one time, two years ago, we were arguing at the dinner table during
once and the host parents just let us have it out. But now something's different. Maybe it's maturity. Maybe it's something else. I
don't know but I approve. We were laughing the other day when he took me and my friend to Cerro Polanco. I knew she hadn’t been…obviously. But Isaac couldn’t believe that I hadn’t ever visited that hill before. It’s so artistic and full of color and culture. Then it dawned on us. We didn’t get along last time at all! He was like “Surely I wouldn’t have invited you back then. And even if I did, you definitely wouldn’t have said yes.” And he's right. But now we’re staying up all hours of the night laughing and talking, we’re visiting wineries together, he’s taking me and my friend to the casino, and he’s practically missing work to take me on tours. The other night, Brittney came out of her room at like 3 A.M. and me and Isaac were in the living room talking. We talked so long that the TV programing on that channel had cut out and all that was left was a soundless screen with colored rectangles. When she asked us what we were watching we glanced at the blotchy TV and looked dumbfounded. We hadn't even noticed the programming ended, we were talking so hard!
Something similar happened with Picha and me. I was close to Elisabet last time but not her. We both have strong personalities and I hardly saw her because she was often at her now ex-boyfriend's house. Although I didn't consider her a friend last time, this time I definitely do. We're planning to go to the amusement park, Fantasilandia, in Santiago for a day. Next year she's coming to the United States and we’re going to get together in Orlando Florida and go to Disney World! I'm so excited! And speaking of not knowing how to "turn down" Picha is the night owl QUEEN in this house. A couple times at least, I woke up and she still hadn't gone to bed and it was 11 A.M! She discovered Breaking Bad and now she can't break...away. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I don't have eye bags the size of my actual luggage by the time I leave! *Fingers crossed tightly!* Good night?
