Fray Jorge
On our way back to Santiago we stopped at Fray Jorge National park to visit the cloud forest. This natural effect where the heat of the land air meets the cold of the sea air creates a special environment Back in Santiago. We had some time to wander around enjoying the wonderful architechture and vitality of this city. Like everywhere that enjoys hot days this city too closes down at 2pm until 5pm and all sensible people find a cool spot to relax, nap or just be quiet. Most shops close and the streets are almost empty. So what do we do? we follow the example of all such "mad dogs and Englishmen" and walk around in the heat of the day.
Oh well we survived and did enjoy seeing the city in its quiet time. We are here until tomorow and then we heat back to the cold wet winter weather of Canada. Today is 32 degrees and going back to a damp 7 degrees is not something I am looking forward too. However we did manage to miss the big snow storm so I cant complain too much.
This has been a wonderful trip and only confirmed our feelings for Chile and now we are planning our next trip back here. Why Chile? It is beautiful, the people are so welcoming and the tourist infrastructure good and it is easy to be here and travel around
Fray Jorge
The mist rolls in allowing a unique place in the desert of rain forest , it is cool and tranquil. independently. It is safe and stable and good value for money. If they could get good coffee and offer some vegetables to eat ( and a lot less melon) this would be a perfect place.
