Puyehue
Las Juntas Eco Accommodation. Beautiful meal. The cook was vegetarian. Feb 25 - Wednesday - Puyehue
Left the dust behind and travelled again through scenic countryside to Puyehue. Ate lunch by the lake and then went and found our accommodation which was a few kilometres out of town and overlooking the lake - magical!
Las Juntas Eco accommodation. The accommodation was near perfect right on lake edge with view of the lake from our windows. We booked in and then went to check out National Park and got info. Took an 18km drive up volcano and watched Scree runners come down the volcano.!
Quite amazing!
Took much longer than expected, so stopped at a restaurant at a village along the way for tea -opposite thermal pools. Staff spoke no English but other guests helped interpret menu. Lovely meal.
Feb 26 - Thursday
Went up to National Park and went on 4 different walks through rainforest to various waterfalls - all quite spectacular. Saw floating pumus stones. Had lunch at Youth hostel type place. Tried the traditional drink - looks like barley in the bottom with dried whole peach floating. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. Came back to our lodge for tea. Cook is vegetarian and
Puyehue
Las Juntas - rooms top to the right of veranda looking out over lake. made us the best meal we have had - moussaka and a corn dish, and falafel. The family who run this lodge are of German origin.
