I arrived at Pucon around 8.30am after my first 12hrs bus ride I had in South America (and won't be the last one neither the shortest), where I couldn't sleep much, even though it was a semi-cama seat (reclinable with a leg rest). As I had to wait til 12 to check in I went for a walk in town to book the volcano trekking for the following day and get some info on buses to Argentina. I then went to the beach for a couple of hours. Well the beach is with black little stones (volcanic stones) and it's on a lake not the sea or ocean, but it didn´t matter, as it was good to be able to relax for a while and think of my next steps in this trip. The water was freezing so I only put my feet and splash a little bit of water on me, as it was very hot outside. After a shower I went for a walk into this nice little town and walk around the shops, with artesan products, bars, resaurants, etc and stopped to have a nice ice-cream and a drink. I really like this town (finally) which has its charm, being by the lake with a volcano so close by, that you can see from town, the old wooden houses, and I suppose that the fact that it´s finally sunny has helped, so I´m enjoying a little bit more.
A 6.30 am I was all ready with my sandwiches and water to go and trek the volcano, but it looked quite cloudy outside, and when I made it to the shop, they confirmed it...the trip was cancelled due to rain predictions and no visibility. So no volcano for me and now I had to stay another nigh as hadn´t book any bus or accommodation for my next stop. So I could have gone for a trek around the National Park close by, but instead decided to go to the hot springs to relax and enjoy myself. For lunch I had 2 chilean dishes, Pastel de choclo (corn cake) and Humitas (corn cake with meat) from a street vendor. Both were very tasty, nice and filling.
