The journey to San Pedro was an 11 hour bus to Calama then another 2 hour bus. For the first time two other gringos got on our Calama bus (god knows where, it was sometime in the middle of the night). but can't remember what it is called only that it is very flammable so people used to burn it for heating and now its nearly extinct. Oh and it grows only 1-2mm per year and gives off a white sticky residue that smells like pine
