Arriving in Manaus from Brasilia is a shock. In contrast with the quiet capital, Manaus is very busy and has a mix of old colonial, new skyscrapers and derelict buildings. Buses fill the air with tick smoke, people and vendors are all over the city, in short you are back in a real city, a Brazilian city.
