One good kick!
With not much to do in Posadas, we headed for the nature reserve Esteros del Ibera. The route we had to take -eventually- took us round three sides of a square heading to the 'town'of Collonia Pellegrini. First we were directed to Santa Tome, then they told us to get back on the bus and go to Paso de Los Libres. The bus from here to Mercedes didn't leave until 1am so we sat it out in a friendly bar watching some odd game show on TV. At 3am we arrived in Mercedes to find the Hostel, Delicias del Ibera, still open and very welcoming.
After a well earned cooked breakfast, they organised a minibus to take us to another hostel / cowshed in Pellegrini. This meant 3hours travelling over bumpy dirt tracks through otherwise extraordinarily flat countryside.
The hostel owner was a really nice guy called Mr Hugo! He couldn't do enough for us, taking us to all the trips in the back of his 4x4. First up was a boat ride, out across a large lake to Marshland where we saw dozens of Alligators basking in the sun. Capybaras - pig sized Guinea pigs -, marsh deer and lots

of strange birds. We stayed for the gorgeous sunset before heading back to land.
The following day, we had a guided nature walk followed by a 2 hour horse ride! Despite the sore butt, I really enjoyed it!
There was a nice bunch staying in the hostel, and they gave us recommendations for our trip south.
