Hike to Cerro Torre
Chris was amused by some of the park descriptions After Ushuaia, we heading to Argentina's unofficial "Capital of Treking", El Chalten. El Chalten is the newest city in the whole country and with ~600 people, its easy to believe. The town is situated right at the base of the Andes and at the Northern tip of the Glacier National Park. This makes it perfect for hiking, glacier walks, and rock climbing. Our focus was on the hiking and we spent our time here doing several of the more intense hikes.
The first was to see Laguna Torres, a lake situated by a glacier and a massive stone peak - Cerro Torres. The hike was long (24 km round trip) and with gradual inclines. We went through a variety of landscapes, from arrid valleys, forests to river beds.
The second hike was to see the famous Fitz Roy peak (also 24 km round trip). Although roughly the same distance, this hike was significantly more intense with steep inclines the whole way and a brutal 25% grade on the last 2km. At the top we came face to face with "Fritz" as well as got amazing views of the glaciers that even today continue to shape the area.
On
our last day, we took it relatively easy and did a 18km hike that took us through lush forests and cow pasteurs (complete with cow poo).

That looks like a painting. I'm fairly sure you guys aren't in Argentina right now - probably just at a museum where you're taking finely-cropped photos.
