Feb 21 –El Calafate. Pause oiseaux près du Lago Argentino/ A break in a birds' reserve nearby Largo Argentino

Le soleil est à El Calafate et la chaleur aussi ! Que cela fait du bien de retrouver le ciel bleu pendant plus de 10 minutes !

La visite du glacier sera pour demain, donc pour moi ce sera journée cool à aller se balader dans la réserve ornithologique sur la lagune près du lac Argentino, le plus grand lac d’Argentine. Ah si vous n’aimez pas les oiseaux, ce n’est pas le 1^er endroit où aller, et même si je ne suis pas plus fan que cela, l’endroit est très calme et reposant, et une petite sieste au bord du lac au soleil est la bienvenue.

El Calafate est une petite ville hyper touristique, formatée mais plutôt sympathique car animée, et on sent que c’est le lieu de passage des trekkeurs vu le nombre de magasins de vêtements de sport !)

C’est aussi la semaine du festival du lac avec concerts gratuits, stands de nourriture des associations locales, expos de tuning (!), et élection de miss Perito Moreno (du nom du glacier!). Et ce soir il y a Los Autenticos Decadentes qui jouent, et cela nous a été tellement répété comme L’événement que ça ne se loupe pas ! A l’instar des gens de la région venus en nombre, ce sera sandwich lomito pour regarder la prestation du fameux groupe si attendu sur scène. L’ambiance est très familiale et décontractée, mais il y a de vrais fans avec pancartes sur le devant pour reprendre en cœur les chansons de…attention, je vais sûrement attaquer un patrimoine national, mais ils m’ont fait penser à…Patrick Sébastien…(petit florilège audio avec leins ci-dessous). En tout cas, les gens étaient heureux, dansaient, chantaient, et cela faisait plaisir à voir.

The sun is at El Calafate, so is the warmth ! it’s really good to enjoy the blue sky for more than 10 minutes!

We will go to the glaciar tomorrow, so today will be spent walking around and go to the birds’ reserve next to the Argentino Lake, the biggest lake in Argentina. If you don’t like birds, I understand you wouldn’t go there as a first choice, and I’m not, but I have to say the place is very peaceful and quiet, and a nap on the strand in the sun was more than appreciated.

El Calafate is a touristic busy town, you can tell hikers are gathering here by the number of shops specialised clothing shops.

This week the lake’s festival also takes place, with free musical concerts, food stalls of regional associations, exhibition of tuning cars and election of Miss Perito Moreno (like the glaciar!) Tonight Los Autenticos Decadentes perform and apparently you can’t miss it because it is really good. Like people here, I’m having a lomito sandwich (with grilled meat) to watch them on stage. The atmosphere is really relaxed, with lots of families but there are real fans with boards, ready to pogo! English speaking people you won’t understand the comparison but the result is that this band makes me think of an old fashioned but still popular French singer, and to be honest it wasn’t that great. What was great though was to be around these people enjoying themselves so much, singing and dancing on these ‘national anthems’!
