San Juan, Parque Provincial Ischigualasto & Tucuman

Hallo Ihr Lieben daheim im warmen Europa :-) !!!

Wie versprochen, melden wir uns von unserem naechsten Stop in Argentinien!!! Nach Mendoza und dem nicht so erfolgreichen Trip zum Aconcagua (wie wir berichtet haben :-), haben wir uns auf den Weg nach San Juan und dem “Parque Provincial Ischigualasto” (auch bekannt als "Valle de Luna", Mondtal) gemacht! Die Fahrt mit dem Bus war fuer argentinische Verhaeltnisse echt kurz - nur 2.5 Stunden :-)

Mittags sind wir in San Juan angekommen! San Juan ist einmal mehr ein kleines verschlafenes Staedtchen im Norden Argentiniens. Das Hostel, das wir gefunden haben, war echt nett! Und wir haben uns direkt aufgemacht, um uns einmal mehr die Stadt zu erlaufen (Was bei der “Groesse” nicht wirklich schwer ist :-). Gott sei Dank, spielte das Wetter mit! Die Sonne hat geschienen und so langsam wurde es auch etwas waermer!! San Juan selber hat - mal abgesehen von einem schoenen Platz im Zentrum - nicht allzu viel zu bieten. Aber wir sind ja auch nicht wegen der Stadt selber hierher gefahren! Wir waren hier, um eine Tour in den „Parque Provincial Ischigualasto“ zu machen!!!!! Die Tour haben wir auch dann direkt ueber das Touristenbuero gebucht und am naechsten Tag sollte es dann um 6 Uhr morgens losgehen :-( Das nennt man dann Urlaub!!!

Am naechsten Morgen hat uns dann auch ein Privatauto puenktlich um 6 Uhr abgeholt. Und los ging es auf die 4 stuendige Fahrt zum Park! Was man nicht alles macht, um die schoenen Ecken Argentiniens zu sehen :-)

Um 11 Uhr hat die Tour durch den Park dann begonnen: 1 Fuehrer mit ca. 20 Autos ging auf die 3 stuendige Fahrt durch den Park!!! Und was wir gesehen haben, ist echt unglaublich! Die Natur, die sich einem hier darbietet, ist fast nicht zu beschreiben. Keine Ahnung, ob unsere Fotos das transportieren koennen! Der Park ist ein UNESCO Welterbe und das nicht ohne Grund! Geologen und Archaeologen lieben diesen Park! Er ist voll von Fossilien (Man nennt ihn auch „Jurassic Park“!!). Die Natur, die Gesteinsschichten und die aussergewoehnlichen Gesteinsformationen zeigen, was hier in den vergangenen Millionen Jahren passiert ist!! Einige der signifikantesten Gesteinsformationen sind: El Gusano (der Wurm), Valle Pintado (das gemalte Tal), Cancha de Bochas (das Bocchia Feld), El Esfinge (die Sphinx), El Submarino (das U-Boot), und El Hongo (der Pilz). Diese koennt Ihr natuerlich auch auf den Bildern sehen. Wir haben es auf jeden Fall genossen und das fruehe Aufstehen hat sich gelohnt! Aber urteilt selber!!

Zurueck in San Juan haben wir uns dann noch die Zeit vertrieben bis 23.15 Uhr! Da ging naemlich unser Bus nach Tucuman - 10 Stunden ueber Nacht! Ja, ja, das sind insgesamt ca. 19 Stunden Bus und Auto fahren innerhalb von 24 Stunden!! (Das macht man auch nur, wenn man gaaaaaaaaaaaaanz viel Zeit hat :-)

Morgens sind wir dann gut in Tucuman gelandet! Eigentlich bestand der ganze Tag darin, Dinge zu organisieren oder zu erledigen - Blog, Bustickets etc.! Also haben wir von der Stadt selber garnicht soviel gesehen - aber doch genug, um ein paar Fotos zu machen :-)! Was aber OK war, weil es einfach nur als Zwischenstop auf unserem Weg noch weiter in den Norden Argentiniens geplant war!!

So, das war es einmal mehr von unserem Trip durch Argentinien! Der Bericht ueber unsere Fahrt nach Cafayate durch die Valles Clachaquies und Cafayate selber folgt dann bald!

Hi everybody in good old & warm Europe :-)!!

As promised, here are some news from our previous stopp in Argentina!! After leaving Mendoza (and the unsuccessful trip to the Aconcagua) behind us, we went straight to San Juan to visit the ´Parque Provincial Ischigualasto´, also known as ´Valle de Luna´ (moon valley)! The bus trip was really short (just 2.5h), at least for Argentinian standards :-)

We arrived around midday in San Juan. It´s a small, laidback city in the northwest of Argentina. We found a cute little hostel and went straight to down town, although there is no real down town in San Juan. We walked aroud a bit and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and the sunshine :-) As said, there is not a lot to do in San Juan, but we mainly came here to visit the ´Parque Provincial Ischigualasto´!! We booked our tour directly in the tourist office (yes, some time we go for the easy option) and waited for the pick-up early next morning (6am).

The next morning we were picked up in time by a private car with our own driver (wow, that´s 100% pure comfort ) and we started our 4h-drive to the National Park! That´s a lot of driving, but you need to spent this kind of time to see the nice places in Argentina :-)

After arriving at the entrance of the park, we had to wait until 11h to start our tour: one guide (a real Argentinian ranger) and roughly 20 cars went on the 3h tour through the park!! We have to say that it is really unbelievable what you see. You just cannot describe the formations that were emerged over the course of millions and millions of years. We hope that our pictures will give you a small impression of what we have seen in Ischigualasto. The Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and we fully agree to this classification. Geologists and archeologists just love this park - it´s full of fossils (also known as Jurassic Park). The nature & the landscape, the different rock layers of and the unbelievable rock formations really show what happend over the past millions and millions of years. Some of the most significant rock formations are: El Gusano (the worm), Valle Pintado (the painted valley), Cancha de Bochas (the Bocha field), El Esfinge (the Sphinx), El Submarino (the submarine), und El Hongo (the mushroom). Obviously we posted some pictures of these highlights. We for our part definitely enjoyed our trip and it was well worth getting up a little bit earlier! But please judge for yourself!

After our return to San Juan, we spent the next couple of hour (until 11.15 pm) waiting for the departure of our night bus to Tucuman - another +10h in a bus, that makes a total of 19h within the last 24h spent in a bus/car driving around!! Man, doesn´t that sound like a lot of fun :-)

We arrived early the next morning in Tucuman and we used most of the day organizing our last and next couple of days (blog, bus tickets, hostel reservations, etc.). Therefore we did not see a lot of the city itself, but still enough to shoot a couple of picture:-)! In the end it was anyhow OK, mainly because Tucuman was just a stop-over on our way further north through Argentina.

That was all about our trip through Argentina that we have to share for now, but the blog about Cafayate and our trip through Valles Clachaquies will follow soon.
