Hello Friends,

On the evening of April third, we were picked up at the Bariloche (Argentina) bus stop by Riens, the co-director of Sin Fronteras (in English "without borders"), the language school we would be attending. After a crazy, wonderful week of being bombarded with sights and sounds in Chile, we happily anticipated being in one place for a week.

Sin Fronteras is a very small school with no more than 6 students and 3 teachers at a time. The school doubles as a hostel for its students. When we arrived, there were 3 other students. We each had 3 hours a day of individualized instruction plus homework, which left us a bit of time to explore Bariloche.

Bariloche is set on the coast of a beautiful clear lake with the Andes mountains soaring overhead. Because of its spectacular environs, Bariloche is a tourist destination for travelers worldwide.

Catering to the tourists are multitudes of chocolate shops, ice cream parlors, hotels, restaurants, etc. We had a few oppurtunities to taste the chocolates and explore the mountains, both of which were breathtaking.

All in all, the coursework was intensive and useful, the hostel was clean and comfortable, and the people were friendly.

Our next and last stop is El Hoyo (Argentina) where we will be working on a farm.

All the best from Bariloche,
Ari and Paul

Hi dear friends. I'm on a new computer now...actually a hand me down from Andy and it is so much faster that I'm able to get all your fabulous photos and text. Ari, I think about you there and wonder what things you are observing that seem different culturally? I look forward to much talk when you come back. Carolyn

Oh that blue sky...
Dear Neighbors: Oh boy, that blue sky and the crystal clear vistas of mountains opening into infinity are such are welcome sight. We are in the second straight month of gray Guangzhou skies (relieved occasionally by shades of greenish-yellow or dark brown... very picturesque). Your trip sounds filled with intriguing opportunities. I envy you the time to study language. Stuart and I meet with our tutor 3 times a week, but we have no time to study. So... absorb well and treasure that gift. Much love, Ellen
