Tender coconut

After finishing an interview in a Muslim village, Muniraj and I realized that neither of our phones worked and that the autorickshaw was who-knows-where in some other village with the other interviewers. So we set out on and wandered through the villages until we couldn't handle the mid-day heat anymore. We sat down at a road-side bench and, sure enough, quickly collected a small gathering of curious and otherwise un-occupied villagers. Schedules and obligations are very flexible around here. So even though this kid had an exam that he was supposed to go to at school, he was enlisted by the crowd of mostly elderly villagers to go get a tender coconut to hack apart for me.
