Beginning in the early 1970's, Peter Toth set out on a mission: to donate a giant wooden sculpture of a Native American to each state in the union, an undertaking which would eventually be called “The Trail of the Whispering Giants” because each of statues stands between 20-40 feet high and weighs in the tens of thousands of pounds.
