Lalibela

Shoes must be removed before entering these churches and because you often go in one door and out another there is a 'shoe man' who is very insistant in helping get your shoes on and off. Ours got quite distraught when Rich kept on trying to do it himself so in this photo he is being a very good boy. The great thing about the 'shoe men' is that they are all very old and this is a job they can do and be self sufficient and helps to keep them from becoming beggars. The church also feeds them and in many cases gives them a place to live.
We are really in Ethiopia now!
