Our fearless hiker called from just west of Beaver Bay today. He shared the Penn Creek campsite with more friendly trekkers last night. I'm looking forward to seeing his photos of what the guide describes as "the lovely Beaver River with its gorgeous falls." I created this blog to provide details of my 2015 through hike of the Superior Hiking Trail. The trip lasted 26 days including 19 days hiking (265 miles), 4 days on a BWCA canoe trip and 3 days off trail playing tourist in Cook Co. I am attempting another SHT through hike in Sept 2017. Differences this year include a more focused trip without the canoe trip and scheduled days off trail. I will be hiking the entire trail including the Duluth section (310 Miles). ... full info
