Got the ferry from Wellington to Picton. We had to check in at least an hour before departure and the trip was 3 houirs across. The ship didn't seem to travel very fast. The last hour of the jorney travels up the huge river towards Picton and there seems to be no sign of human life either side until you reach the port.
