Fresh water lake below dunes

On Sunday we surrendered the lofty redwoods of California and continued north on Highway 101 into Oregon to greet gigantic rock formations rising up from the Pacific. When my husband, Phil, and I decided to schedule a driving trip to Yosemite for a series of day hikes, I thought we should also arrange a visit and hike with a friend who lives north of Santa Fe. Our Yosemite visit would be mid-September, but our friend wasn't available until the end of October.
