An army of volunteers
Although there are resident gardeners, they couldn't cope without the help of horticultural student volunteers. This is a very rare sighting of one - their tools and stuff are seen around the gardens but they're usually hidden by foliage!

Today we had sunshine, showers and a riot - a riot of colour! We journeyed, in a coach full of people "of a certain age" (like us), to Northiam, just off the road to Rye in the county of East Sussex - to the remarkable gardens of the late Christopher Lloyd.
