After arriving in Peru we stayed in the town of Puno for 1 night. Puno is on the side of Lake Titicaca and is where a lot of the violent protests are occurring, causing the border to be closed. We had heard a lot about the trouble and so were a bit dubious about staying in Puno. We were pleasantly surprised however.
