The Athens subway

Once we decided it was time to head back to the hotel, we exited the Plaka area and headed for one of the major streets that we had been on during our bus tour. We assumed there had to be a subway stop somewhere. We walked and walked and walked but couldn't find the subway. Once again we asked for help but nobody knew where (or what) the subway was. We finally found a small metro sign directing us back toward the Plaka. There in the most unobtrusive, secluded spot off the main artery was a huge subway stop. Inside the temperature was reasonably cool and again, I was amazed by the cleanliness of the place.
Day Thirteen (Thursday)

July 6th 2006
The last day of the land portion of this tour. I slept pretty well after our busy busy day. We actually got to sleep in a bit today. Breakfast was in a large room in the hotel.
