One last glance back

When our tour of this monastery ended we had to descend back down to the bus parking lot. In the lot were a couple of souvenir stands. In a thread on Fodor's Forums I had read about some of the things other world travelers had decided to collect while on vacation. One person mentioned she had started a bell collection. When I saw a set of goat bells laying in a basket in one of the souvenir stands I told Gail that this would be a cool thing to start collecting. (Too bad I didn't come up with this gem earlier than this like when we were in all those Tuscan hill towns) Anyway, Gail proceeded to bargain with the proprietor and eventually got the string of bells for about half the original asking price. I knew we had gotten a good deal when one of the other souvenir stand workers, presumably the grandmother, proceeded to spit in our direction as we walked away. As we boarded the bus and drove toward the next monastery we continued on the same treacherous winding mountain road. We got some great views of the other monasteries and the Kalambaka valley below us.
