THE STATUES: I saw them! "Them" being the Riace Warriors, two Greek statues that are thought to have fallen off a ship just south of Reggio near Riace. Happenstance has altered my life so often, so maybe part of my fondness for the statues has something to do with their happenstance discovery. I'm making a 30 year anniversary trip to Italy in mid-September. I'm mainly going to Reggio Calabria, an area I've never been before. I want to see "I Bronzi," two incredible Greek statues that were discovered in the water off Riace back in 1980. I was 40 when I went to Italy the first time, so you do the math on how old I am now.
