This city is apparently recommended by Rick Steves as a good base. I agree, and would have based there if any accomodation was available. All five villages are charming, but this one ropes you in especially hard. The concrete breakwater also makes for a good place to take nap. Trust me...

I'm in love. The five tiny fishing villages - "Cinque Terre" - on the Italian Riviera charmed me from the moment I got into Riomaggiore.
