Først lidt forklaring om overskriften. Oprindeligt hed området et meget langt indiansk navn, som franskmændene forkortede til Mackinac (hvor ac udtales som aw). Øen har som det eneste bibeholdt den oprindelige stavemåde, mens både strædet, broen og byen staves med aw til sidst. Vi vågnede ved 8 tiden og alle var klar til at komme ud og opleve noget.
