No time to sleep in today - we are booked in at the 9am shuttle bus to Hells Gate - an active geothermal reserve. First we do the 1 hour walk around starting at the Waharoa - a carved gateway representing an ancestral chief and the maori god of volcanic activity - Ruaumoko.
