Corinna - Savage River

This is the barge which crosses the Savage River, from here you can drive to a place called Zeehan. Our car & caravan was too long and too heavy to take the barge. Weight is not to exceed 6.5 tonnes and wheel track 9mtrs in length. I must admit I didn't like the idea of going on it anyway. Over the years they have lost a couple of 4WD's off this barge which they have never retrieved. Water depth is approx. 18 mtrs to the bottom. Tiger snakes also live in the river.......how lovely.

From Stanley where we had the best home-made scones with home-made raspberry Jam and cream, we headed to Murrawah which is the North Western most point in Tasmania (via main road). We stayed at Arthur Pieman Conservation Area overnight and the next day proceeded to drive to Corrina, which is inland from the coast.
